Baseball Recap: Hamilton Southeastern Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hamilton Southeastern, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Hamilton Heights Huskies on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.

Tyler Sarver looked comfortable as he struck out ten batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Clark Bucher and Maddux Bach did most of the damage at the plate: Bucher went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Bach went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Bucher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Bixler, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Hamilton Southeastern hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton Heights struck out 13 times.

Hamilton Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Hamilton Heights, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Hamilton Southeastern and Hamilton Heights could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Royals will square off against Mt. Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (82 vs. 20). Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights (ranked 228th) will meet McCutcheon (ranked 94th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
