Cincinnatus Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Groton Red Hawks an 18-0 shutout. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Payton Gerrard made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Gerrard was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Cincinnatus Central let Lucy Finch and Lydia Scutt run wild. Finch went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Scutt went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Scutt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Ellerson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Cincinnatus Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .306 or higher in four consecutive games.

Cincinnatus Central's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Groton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cincinnatus Central will face off against Onondaga at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Groton, they will take on Southern Cayuga at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
