Baseball Recap: Fort Jennings Comes Up Short

Fort Jennings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to the Miller City Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Musketeers have suffered since April 7th.

Jarron Swick was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Swick wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Calvelage, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fort Jennings' defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Miller City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Fort Jennings will square off against Spencerville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller City has already played their next matchup (against Paulding), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
