Basketball Recap: Riesel Takes a Loss

Riesel lost against Marlin back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Riesel Indians were beaten by the Marlin Bulldogs 71-31. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1411th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 542nd).

Riesel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Marlin, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riesel has already played their next game (against Johnson County Sports Association), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Marlin will be playing in front of their home fans against Axtell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Marlin has won 11 straight at home dating back to last season, while Axtell won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
