Basketball Recap: Desert Heights Prep Comes Up Short

Desert Heights Prep was the 60-21 winner over Mayer when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Desert Heights Prep Yote might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Mayer Wildcats an easy 45-22 victory. The Yote just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Leading Mayer to victory were Taylor McCann and Aspyn Colquitt. McCann posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Colquitt dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Mcgee, who earned five points and 13 rebounds.

Desert Heights Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Mayer, their record now sits at 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Heights Prep will venture away from home to square off against Bagdad at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Heights Prep is facing Bagdad at the right time seeing as Bagdad is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mayer, they will head out to face off against Antelope at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
