Volleyball Recap: Newman Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Newman Central Catholic was the 2-1 winner over East Moline United when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Comets fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-19 in the first set.

Newman Central Catholic actually scored more points across those three sets (72-70), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 26-24, 25-23.

Newman Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Newman Central Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Moline United, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Rockridge at 7:00 p.m.
