League recap: The Pinnacle crushed by Faith Christian

2A Flatirons recap October 8, 2013

The Pinnacle lost to Faith Christian 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hector Venegas threw for 40 yards and ran for 26 yards in the loss.

Brandyn Thompson was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Eagles bested The Pinnacle. The 6-foot-2 senior racked up 1 sack.

Trevor Olsen was a passing and rushing force as Faith Christian defeated Eric Hahn's team.

Venegas put up the best numbers through the air as the Timberwolves lost to Blair Hubbard's team. Venegas' favorite target this week was Juan Cortez, who caught 2 passes for 14 yards.

The Pinnacle's Venegas and Tim Hernandez have formed a dream team this season, leading 2A Flatirons in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Venegas has thrown for 669 yards this season, while Hernandez has 13 catches for 217 yards. Daniel Langewisch from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 682 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Faith Christian takes on second place KIPP Denver Collegiate.

There should be lots of points scored when Bishop Machebeuf and Faith Christian face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Buffaloes comes in having scored 88 this season, while the Eagles have scored 287. Bishop Machebeuf scored 26 points last week as it beat Middle Park.

Faith Christian led the league in scoring this week by notching 63 points on the Timberwolves. Olsen ran for 148 yards in the win.
