Baseball Game Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. La Habra Highlanders

The Crean Lutheran Saints will head out to square off against the La Habra Highlanders at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Crean Lutheran 3.6, La Habra 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Crean Lutheran took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Canyon by a score of 6-1.

Meanwhile, La Habra entered their tilt with Yorba Linda on Friday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Highlanders have posted since March 12th.

Angel Acuna tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bobby Fierro was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

La Habra's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Crean Lutheran, their record now sits at 16-8.

Crean Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against La Habra in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
