Baseball Game Preview: Hart Hawks vs. West Ranch Wildcats

The Hart Hawks will head out to face off against the West Ranch Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Hart is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Ventura just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 5-2 to the Cougars.

Hart got a good showing from Malachi Wobrock, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs Wobrock has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Luke McCarty made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Elias Bernal also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, West Ranch suffered their biggest defeat since March 8th on Saturday. They came up short against La Mirada, falling 12-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mikey Murr was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Hart's record is now 11-8. As for West Ranch, their record now sits at 15-8.

Hart skirted past West Ranch 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
