Softball Game Preview: Foundation Academy Lions vs. Cambridge Christian Lancers

The Foundation Academy Lions will challenge the Cambridge Christian Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Foundation Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Mount Dora Christian Academy 8-1.

Reagan Schirmer was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Schirmer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Foundation Academy let Katherine Johnson and Kamryn Arico run wild. Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Arico went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Arico has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Ranaudo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Foundation Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Cambridge Christian hadn't done well against Academy at the Lakes recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lancers walked away with an 11-8 win over the Wildcats.

Foundation Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cambridge Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
