Baseball Game Preview: Grand Junction Central Warriors vs. Durango Demons

For the second straight game, Grand Junction Central will face off against Durango. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Demons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Grand Junction Central has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Durango will arrive with four straight victories.

On Friday, Grand Junction Central came up short against Durango and fell 5-2.

For Durango's part, Dawson McInnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Romero, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landin Padilla, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Durango hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Junction Central struck out ten times.

Durango pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grand Junction Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
