Softball Game Preview: Gray Stone Day Knights vs. South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls

Gray Stone Day is 0-10 against South Stanly since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Gray Stone Day Knights will head out to square off against the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls at 6:00 p.m. Gray Stone Day has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Gray Stone Day and Mount Pleasant, and Mount Pleasant kept the tradition alive. Gray Stone Day lost 17-0 to Mount Pleasant on Monday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, South Stanly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Stanly. That's two games in a row now that the Rowdy Rebel Bulls have lost by exactly five runs.

Kinsley Tyson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

South Stanly's loss dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Gray Stone Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gray Stone Day hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .431. However, it's not like South Stanly struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Gray Stone Day suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to South Stanly in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Gray Stone Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
