Soccer Game Preview: West Anchorage vs. Chugiak

The West Anchorage Eagles will challenge the Chugiak Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

West Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bartlett, who was ranked 15th at the time (West Anchorage was ranked 11th). The Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Golden Bears a 5-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for West Anchorage considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

They hit Bartlett with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emery Bryan (2), Hattie Luckasson, Nina Geist, and Leiloa Fesolai.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Chugiak brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past Eagle River 10-0 on Wednesday. Considering Chugiak have won five matches by more than three goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chugiak's win bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for West Anchorage, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5-2.
