Basketball Recap: Hiawatha Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Hiawatha Hawks lost to the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors at home by a 62-47 margin. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Schaumburg Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Saenz, who went 6 for 8 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Saenz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Bustamante, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Hiawatha's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Schaumburg Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Hiawatha will square off against Serena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hiawatha is facing Serena at the right time seeing as Serena is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Schaumburg Christian, they will take on Harvest Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Elijah Bell and Bustamante.
