Baseball Recap: Centennial Makes It Five in a Row at Home

On Wednesday Centennial's undefeated season almost came to an end. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ontario Christian Knights a 2-0 shutout. The two-run effort marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Centennial got a great performance from Ian Calvillo as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave Calvillo a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Isaiah Padilla was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Charles Rogers also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Centennial pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Ontario Christian, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will host Sultana at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ontario Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Don Lugo at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
