Recap: Monticello Billies vs. Highland Rebels
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Monticello Billies walked away with it. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 21-20 win over Highland. The win was nothing new for Monticello as they're now sitting on three straight.
Monticello's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tejon Tensley, who picked up 127 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Jontavion Jackson and his 122 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Monticello's win.
Highland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Keagan Statler, who rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Ronnie Keith brewer, who picked up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Monticello has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Monticello will square off against Elkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Elkins' favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
