Basketball Recap: Nick Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Centaurus over Erie

Centaurus was the 60-56 winner over Erie when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Centaurus Warriors received a blow on Thursday as they fell 58-43 to the Erie Tigers. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nick Jones, who posted nine points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jt Falzone, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Erie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Garrett Owen, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 19 points. The dominant performance also gave Owen a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Callen Gebhardt, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 15 points and seven assists.

Centaurus' loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Erie, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Centaurus will face off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centaurus is facing Skyline at the right time seeing as Skyline is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Erie, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Erie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
