Flag Football Recap: Desert Ridge Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Desert Ridge's offense. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Highland Hawks on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Hawks are ranked third).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexis Eley, who rushed for 27 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 110 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing touchdowns Eley has posted since back in October. Ela Witcher did her part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 54 receiving yards.

Desert Ridge is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. As for Highland, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Desert Ridge will face off against rival Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Highland is set to square off against their familiar foe Higley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
