Softball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Great Crossing's Winning Streak

Great Crossing dropped their record down to 11-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Male Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warhawks have suffered since March 21st.

Great Crossing saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Collins, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Mara Livingston also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Male, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

On Male's side, Hannah Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Wright has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Crossing will welcome Eastern at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Male, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Woodford County at 6:00 p.m.
