Basketball Recap: George Washington Starts Season with Victory Against Harrison

George Washington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 89-53 win over the Harrison Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

George Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tre Borne led the charge by going 8-for-11 on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. What's more, Borne posted five steals, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Trimm, who shot 60% from the field en route to 19 points and seven boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: George Washington was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrison only racked up nine.

Jeilo Hamenyimana and Dylan Arocho certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hamenyimana went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points, while Arocho shot 75% from the field on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. Rawlston John was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

George Washington has already played their next game, an 83-33 victory against Thomas Jefferson on the 4th. As for Harrison, they will welcome Woodland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
