Soccer Game Preview: Sonora vs. Pacifica

The Sonora Raiders will head out to challenge the Pacifica Mariners at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Pacifica took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sonora, who comes in off a win.

Sonora took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let La Habra onto the board and left with a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Pacifica was not quite Cypress' equal in the second half on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centurions. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mariners came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Centurions are ranked 619th).

Sonora's victory bumped their record up to 10-4-4. As for Pacifica, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 8-3-4.

Sonora suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Pacifica in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Sonora avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
