Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Academy Griffons vs. Will Carleton Academy Cougars

Marshall Academy and Will Carleton Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Marshall Academy Griffons will square off against the Will Carleton Academy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Marshall Academy comes in on three and Will Carleton Academy on six.

Last Friday, Marshall Academy strolled past Calhoun Christian with points to spare, taking the game 73-55.

Marshall Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Patterson out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LaDarrell Harris, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Will Carleton Academy). They claimed a resounding 85-19 victory over Factoryville Christian. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Marshall Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Will Carleton Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Marshall Academy came up short against Will Carleton Academy when the teams last played back in January, falling 59-52. Can Marshall Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
