Baseball Recap: Shasta Comes Up Short

Shasta fell victim to Pleasant Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

Jayden Oliver was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Shasta dropped their record down to 14-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Pleasant Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Pleasant Valley will be playing at home against River City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. Shasta will be paying especially close attention to Pleasant Valley's game: after Pleasant Valley faces off against River City, they'll take on Shasta again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
