Softball Preview: Gurdon Go-Devils vs. Fordyce Redbugs

Gurdon has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Fordyce Redbugs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Gurdon will be strutting in after a win while Fordyce will be coming in after a defeat.

Gurdon is headed into the match fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 20-4 margin over Ouachita on Thursday.

Sadie Griffin made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Griffin has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Griffin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Mikaela Bradshaw was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and a triple. Mollie Cox was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, sadly, Fordyce is still looking for their first win of the season after 14 contests. They suffered a rough 19-0 loss at the hands of Junction City on Thursday.

The victory got Gurdon back to even at 7-7. As for Fordyce, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
