Volleyball Recap: Sidney Engelman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Diller-Odell over Fillmore Central

Diller-Odell had taken Fillmore Central down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Griffin fell 3-1 to the Panthers. The Griffin were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Diller-Odell started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-12.

Diller-Odell lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sidney Engelman, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Among those leading the charge was Ashlynn Childs, who had 15 digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matchups.

Diller-Odell has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Fillmore Central, their win ended a ten-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-13.

Diller-Odell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer on the 9th. As for Fillmore Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Sandy Creek on the 9th.
