Bloomfield extended the longest winning streak in Central Connecticut III West this week by beating Tolland, 21-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Warhawks.
Rocky Hill made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,469 from 7,966. The improvement came about via a 42-7 victory over Plainville last week.
Bloomfield's dynamic duo of Norvel Stewart and Terrence Mitchell proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stewart threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns and Mitchell had 82 yards receiving. Andrew Robinson helped Bloomfield's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Chris Young was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 176 yards on six carries as the Terriers beat Tolland. Teammate Greg Marzilli added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.
The Warhawks' Pedro Roman and Stewart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roman has thrown for 408 yards this season, while Stewart, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has nine catches for 211 yards. Young from Rocky Hill leads the league in rushing with 911 yards.
The top two teams in Central Connecticut III West will face off this week when first place Bloomfield takes on second place Rocky Hill. Last week, Bloomfield defeated Andy Bourquin's team, while David Coyne's team bested the Blue Devils.
