Basketball Recap: Mescalero Apache Takes a Loss

Mescalero Apache lost against Roy/Mosquero back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chiefs received a blow as they fell 40-26 to the Blue/Lady Blue. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Blue/Lady Blue are ranked 16th).

This is the second loss in a row for Mescalero Apache and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Roy/Mosquero, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mescalero Apache and Springer will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for Roy/Mosquero, they and Fort Sumner/House will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
