Basketball Recap: Socastee Comes Up Short

Socastee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs. That's two games in a row now that the Braves have lost by exactly five points.

When it comes to explaining why Socastee lost, don't look at Bryson Sams. Despite the final result, he posted eight points and five rebounds. Joshua Brown was another key player, putting up ten points.

Among those leading the charge was CJ Oxendine, who put up 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Chapman, who had six points and six rebounds.

Socastee now has a losing record at 7-8. As for North Myrtle Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Socastee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-50 loss against Myrtle Beach on the 14th. As for North Myrtle Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-47 defeat against Carolina Forest on the 14th.
