The Federal Way Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Auburn Mountainview Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Federal Way has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
While Federal Way's victory against Jefferson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Raiders 13-12. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Eva Adriano made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed eight innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off nine hits. Adriano was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Federal Way got a massive performance out of Meeghan Meagher, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave Meagher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sosephina Sailiai, who went 5-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Federal Way kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They got six more hits than Jefferson's also-impressive total of 15.
Meanwhile, Auburn Mountainview came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 12-1 victory. Considering the Lions have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Federal Way, Auburn Mountainview also got a great game from a two-way player: Brynna Erdmann. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Erdmann has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Mia Heigh was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. Tessa Trippy was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Auburn Mountainview's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Federal Way, their record is now 5-10.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Federal Way has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Auburn Mountainview struggles in that department as they've averaged .565. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Federal Way suffered a grim 22-1 defeat to Auburn Mountainview in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
