Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Cavaliers vs. Polytech Panthers

The Middletown Cavaliers will head out to challenge the Polytech Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Middletown is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Middletown is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Newark on Wednesday as they made off with a 24-2 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Polytech faced off against St. Andrew's on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.

Makai Parker and Cam Allen made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Parker pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Allen struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. At bat, Parker earned two runs and two stolen bases, while Allen went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Polytech is 2-1 when Parker posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Dulin, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Middletown's record now sits at 5-15. As for Polytech, their record is now 5-9.
