Softball Recap: Perry County Vikings vs. Riverside Panthers        
        
		
            
 Perry County was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight  defeat. They fell  7-4 to the Riverside Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Perry County of the  7-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March.
 For Riverside's part,  Lauren Ruehl was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Ruehl was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with a  home run and three  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Lainie Holbert and  Jayla Davenport did most of the damage at the plate:  Holbert  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances, while  Davenport  went 2-for-4 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI.
 Perry County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Riverside, they pushed their record up to 8-5-1 with that  victory, which was their third straight  at home.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry County will  square off against Wayne County at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Riverside, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Scotts Hill at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Scotts Hill's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9  runs per game  this season, so Riverside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
