Basketball Game Preview: Oakfield-Alabama Hornets vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Oakfield-Alabama Hornets will challenge the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Oakfield-Alabama came up short against Elba and fell 54-42. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Lancers are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Notre Dame waltzed into their contest last Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 53-37 win over the Dragons. The Fighting Irish pushed the score to 46-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.

Notre Dame is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Oakfield-Alabama, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.
