Basketball Recap: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. Lee Central Stallions
After flying high against Governor's School for Science & Math last Thursday, Lamar came back down to earth. The Lamar Silver Foxes had to suffer through a 71-12 loss at the hands of the Lee Central Stallions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-28 back in January.
Kiyonna Austin was a one-woman wrecking crew for Lee Central as she went 5-for-11 en route to 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Austin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Hannah Reames was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points.
Lamar's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Lee Central, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-4.
Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lee Central, they will welcome Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Thornwell likes a good challenge.
