Baseball Game Preview: Portola Bulldogs vs. Irvine Vaqueros

For the second straight game, Portola will face off against Irvine. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Vaqueros at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Portola has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Irvine will arrive with three straight wins.

On Wednesday, Portola came up short against Irvine and fell 6-2.

For Irvine's part, Drake Brito looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Brito has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Irvine saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Dressendorfer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Irvine back to even at 11-11. As for Portola, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
