Basketball Recap: Circle Takes a Loss

Circle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Augusta Orioles. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Orioles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Circle lost, don't look at Emma Johnson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Vogts, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Circle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Circle's loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for Augusta, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Circle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-41 defeat against Mulvane on the 27th. As for Augusta, they have also already played their next match, a 48-45 victory against Buhler on the 27th.
