Softball Game Preview: Trinity Episcopal Titans vs. Collegiate Cougars

Trinity Episcopal has gone a perfect 10-0 against Collegiate recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Trinity Episcopal will look to defend their home field against Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Trinity Episcopal's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Collegiate has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

If Trinity Episcopal beats Collegiate with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Trinity Episcopal never let Christchurch School get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Cooper Beatty was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Beatty was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Hoyle was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cabel Berkeyheiser, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Trinity Episcopal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Collegiate's offense. They lost 21-0 to Miller School of Albemarle on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Trinity Episcopal, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything went Trinity Episcopal's way against Collegiate when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Trinity Episcopal made off with a 13-3 victory. Does Trinity Episcopal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Collegiate turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
