Basketball Recap: Kordae Edwards' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hawthorne over Lawndale

Hawthorne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost to the Lawndale Cardinals on the road by a 83-65 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 99-54 back in December of 2024.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kordae Edwards, who posted 19 points. The dominant performance gave Edwards a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jakobi Smith, who put up 15 points.

Hawthorne's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Lawndale, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.

As of now, neither Hawthorne nor Lawndale have any future games scheduled.
