Basketball Recap: Central Cabarrus Takes a Loss

Central Cabarrus lost against Northwest Cabarrus back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Central Cabarrus Vikings took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans.

Defeat or not, Central Cabarrus got some senior leadership from Cayden Smith and Kevonta' Martin. Smith posted 17 points, while Martin scored ten points and seven boards. The contest was Smith's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dexter Montague, who put up nine points.

Even though they lost, Central Cabarrus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Central Cabarrus' loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their record is now 10-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Cabarrus will host Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Cabarrus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Northwest Cabarrus' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while East Rowan has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
