Wilton took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Danbury, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hatters on Monday, sneaking past 7-5. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Hatters on their field since April 13, 2021.

Wilton got a great performance from Jakob Sweeters as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cole Herbst, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Denny Dustin, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Wilton lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Wilton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Danbury, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilton will take on New Canaan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Danbury, they will square off against Stamford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hatters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Knights have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
