Basketball Recap: Preston Comes Up Short

If Preston was riding high fresh off their 78-56 takedown of Philip Barbour last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Preston Knights had to suffer through a 78-42 loss at the hands of the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears. The match marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Preston had strong showings from Kaden Bachtel, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and four blocks, and Aidan Schmidl, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Tristian Smith, who posted four points and five boards.

Preston's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Fairmont Senior, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Preston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-54 victory against Liberty on the 4th. As for Fairmont Senior, they will take on Robert C. Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Fairmont Senior's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
