Proving he wasn't just a small school sensation, Anadarko's Sheldon Wilson made a lot of people sit up and take notice during his senior season.

Besides leading Anadarko to its first Oklahoma 3A state championship, Wilson set state records for career rushing yardage and touchdowns. Along the way he also helped Anadarko finish ahead of such heralded Oklahoma small school programs like Heritage Hall, Cascia Hall and Metro Christian.

In doing so, Wilson earned state Offensive Player of the Year honors by the Oklahoma City Oklahoman and was also an all-state selection by the Tulsa World News.

As a result, Wilson is the MaxPreps Small Schools Player of the Year and he headlines the U.S. Air Force Small Schools All-American Football Team.

Besides rushing for 3,335 yards and 57 touchdowns, Wilson also finished his career with 7,774 rushing yards and 124 touchdowns. He also set single season state records with 57 rushing touchdowns and 64 overall touchdowns.

Wilson was especially spectacular in the playoffs, running for 390 yards in the quarterfinals and again in the semifinals and finishing with 225 yards against Cascia Hall in the championship game.

Wilson heads the Small Schools All-American Team, which consists of players who play in state enrollments with generally less than 1,000 enrollment.
