Preview: Providence Academy Patriots vs. Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers
The Providence Academy Patriots will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on February 1st. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Providence Academy was the victim of a tough 72-52 loss at the hands of the Knights.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Jefferson Independent Day were a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They were beaten by Southern Missouri RUSH 94-16. While losing is never fun, Jefferson Independent Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the * are ranked 132nd).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Jefferson Independent Day struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Providence Academy's loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Providence Academy was able to grind out a solid win over the Cavaliers in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, winning 56-49. Does Providence Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
