Hillcrest is 0-10 against Blackfoot since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Knights will head out to face off against the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. Hillcrest has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Monday, Hillcrest came up short against Thunder Ridge and fell 13-8.
Andrew Johnson put in work no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Cole Croft made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Thomas Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Blackfoot, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over Idaho Falls on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Broncos as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Conner Cannon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jagger Wren, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Blackfoot's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-5. As for Hillcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Hillcrest might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Blackfoot in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
