Baseball Recap: Loyola Takes a Loss

If Loyola was feeling good fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Cathedral last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cubs fell just short of the Santa Monica Vikings by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Cubs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Loyola got a good showing from Luke Connon, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Connon has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Loyola has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season. As for Santa Monica, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6.

Loyola has already played their next contest, a 12-2 defeat against Venice on the 26th. As for Santa Monica, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-1 win against Culver City on the 29th.
