Basketball Game Preview: Bertrand Vikings vs. Kenesaw Blue Devils

Bertrand is 1-6 against Kenesaw since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Bertrand Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Kenesaw Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Bertrand will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Bertrand humbled Arapahoe with a 70-43 victory. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Warriors are ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Red Cloud typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Kenesaw proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 56-52 win over the Warriors.

Bertrand better focus on containing Adam Denkert and Maddox Wagoner as the pair were huge in Kenesaw's win. Denkert posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Wagoner earned 15 points. Denkert has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jravin Suck, who scored four points and seven rebounds.

Bertrand pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Kenesaw, their record now sits at 12-8.

Bertrand came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenesaw when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 43-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bertrand since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
