Recap: Grandview Prep Pride vs. FAU High Owls
The Grandview Prep Pride entered their tilt with the FAU High Owls with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Grandview Prep walked away with a 71-58 win over FAU High on Thursday. Given Grandview Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while FAU High is ranked 743rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grandview Prep was led to victory by Xavian Charles and Aeris Lawson. Charles scored 12 points along with five assists and four steals, while Lawson scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Lawson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jaiden Colquuhoun was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Several Owls players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samuel Joseph, who scored 21 points. Joseph scored a full 36.2% of FAU High's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Austen Smith , who scored 13 points.
Grandview Prep's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for FAU High, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Grandview Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Highlands Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 8th. Highlands Christian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for FAU High, they will head out on the road to face off against Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Sports Leadership & Management has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
