Xavier is 8-1 against Western Dubuque since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Xavier Saints will take on the Western Dubuque Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Xavier will be strutting in after a victory while Western Dubuque will be coming in after a defeat.

While Xavier didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 68-46 win on Tuesday. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Cougars are ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Western Dubuque was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 56-48 to Dubuque Senior.

Xavier's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Western Dubuque, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Xavier came up short against Western Dubuque in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 68-56. Can Xavier avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
