Recap: Morgan City Tigers vs. Lutcher Bulldogs
The Morgan City Tigers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 48-0 loss at the hands of Lutcher. While losing is never fun, Morgan City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Lutcher is ranked 43rd).
Lutcher can attribute much of their success to Quinn Smith, who rushed for nine yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Trenton Chaney was in the mix as well, providing Lutcher with three touchdowns.
Morgan City's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Lutcher, South Lafourche, and Assumption. As for Lutcher, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Morgan City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lutcher will head out on the road to face off against A.J. Ellender at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. A.J. Ellender comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
