Baseball Recap: Wakulla Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wakulla can now relate to. They fell just short of the Escambia Gators by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Monday.

Wakulla got a good showing from William Wright, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Wright hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March.

At the plate, James Hoffman was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Wakulla is 4-1 when Hoffman posts two or more runs, but 10-12 otherwise.

Wakulla dropped their record down to 14-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Escambia, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-5.

Wakulla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Escambia, they will challenge Clay at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gators 3.6, the Blue Devils 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
