Basketball Game Preview: Mentor Christian vs. Westside Christian Academy Eagles

Mentor Christian will face off against the Westside Christian Academy Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mentor Christian took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They greeted the New Year with with a 42-23 win over Harding.

Meanwhile, Westside Christian Academy came into Tuesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 29-24 victory over Varsity Opponent on Tuesday.

Westside Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Ella Formica, who went 8 of 19 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Formica has scored all season.

Westside Christian Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Mentor Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Mentor Christian's way against Westside Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Mentor Christian made off with a 48-22 victory. In that contest, Mentor Christian amassed a halftime lead of 32-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
